Charles's Platform

I have dedicated a lifetime to education as a retired K-12 teacher, college professor, dean, and now trustee. While many improvements to local education have been made, there remains much still to do. As an educational professional, I understand the need to prepare students for careers and further study. I know Delta College’s strengths and weaknesses, the areas requiring improvement, and how do get it done.

Since 2018, while serving as a trustee and Board President significant strides have been made with a renewed commitment to serving more students and doing so in new and refurbished facilities not only on the Stockton campus but also through the expansion learning centers in the southern, eastern, and northern areas of the college district.

First and foremost is to address growth of our student body and their success. I have advocated for the creation of local learning centers with increased presence and opportunities in our community that provides better access, promote services, and is more effective in supporting students. The recent passage of a $598 million bond initiative will ensure a continued commitment in those efforts.

I have held college administrators accountable to ensure they are serving our COMMUNITY AND STUDENTS FIRST in all decisions they make. It is imperative that we fulfill our promise to provide students with top-notch opportunities in state-of-the-art facilities that support families through career and technical education and transfer education so our community will continue to flourish and grow.

As your representative I hope to continue to advocate on your behalf and collaborate with my Board colleagues to improve the college’s performance and effectiveness throughout the communities we serve.

I would be honored to have your vote and continue the work we have begun.
